Popular Murphys Retailer, Jane & Jean Boutique, Expands
Mother and daughter co-owners, Sue Richmond and Laura Cashara, launched their second retail location, Jane and Jean Etcetera in Murphys last weekend. This comes just a few years after the pair merged and rebranded two fashion retail businesses downtown, spawning their successful boutique fashion store: Jane and Jean Boutique.
Jane and Jean Etcetera offers an expansion of all the popular “etcetera” departments in the original store that their clientele want more of: lingerie, accessories, shoes, gifts for men and apparel for children from newborn to 5T. The original store, Jane and Jean Boutique, will now be concentrating entirely on hand-selected, boutique women’s apparel for sizes 0 to 16.
Sue says their business success is driven by their Murphys clientele combined with excellent, personalized customer service from their team. But we know that success is also due to her passion for merchandising, which started in high school, leading to decades of experience as a clothing buyer and store manager before relocating to Murphys.
Sue and Laura aren’t content to just make a living from their retail success, they also lend their business acumen to contributing to causes they care about. In her Bay Area days, Sue trained models and produced fashion shows benefitting local charities. Today, Jane and Jean Boutique produces its own graphic T-shirts donating 10% of the sales to Guide Dogs for the Blind in San Rafael and significantly going the extra mile, Laura has raised 5 guide dogs herself.
What’s in future for this mother-daughter team? Based on their past successes, we expect great things. You can visit both of their stores, the original at 237 Main Street and Etcetera at 207 Main Street, seven days a week. Check out their Facebook page for hours, exact location, and contact information. Follow them on Instagram for fashion inspiration.
