What’s Happening in Murphys this Week – October 3-11, 2018

Try out the Saturday Hopper bus service running between Valley Springs and Arnold with stops in Murphys.  Enjoy a day in Murphys and leave the driving to Calaveras Transit!

Saturdays in MurphysWalking Tours of Historic Downtown Murphys are available at no charge (donations gratefully accepted) on Saturday mornings at 10am leaving from the Old Timers Museum. Please contact Jo Sanders at 209-728-3072 to confirm dates and times or make arrangements for large groups. No tours on event days!

October 7, 2018 – Sunday Funday Mimosas at Milliaire Tasting Room – Celebrate the bubbly side of Milliaire! Enjoy a Mimosa out on our Creekside Patio or in our Tasting Room at 11 am and start your Sunday off right. Cheers!

October 7, 2018 – Artist Reception at Hovey Winery – Hovey Winery is excited to welcome back Kristin Main to the Hovey Tasting Room in October and November. Kristin has grown up surrounded by art and has been producing art in one form or another her whole life. Join us on Sunday, October 7 from 4:30 to 6 p.m. for a reception in her honor.

October 11, 2018 – Astronomy Night at the Park – Come look at the stars! Docents will be sharing information and telling stories as everyone gazes at the night sky. Two telescopes and astronomical binoculars will give you a closer look at the moon, planets and deep sky objects.  Meet us at the Scenic Overlook in the park, just a few miles past the Visitor Center. This is one of the best night sky viewing areas in the region. Bring a chair or blanket to sit on.  The Astronomy program at the park is run entirely by docent volunteers with support from the Calaveras Big Trees Association.  7 pm start time

Save the Date – October 20, 2018 – 3rd Annual Downtown Murphys Witch Walk – Eat Drink & Shop from 5-9pm – Grab your best witch hat (or maybe a full costume) and spend the evening with us in downtown Murphys.

Save the Date – November 3, 2018 – Murphys Dia de los Muertos – Celebrate the Day of the Dead in the Land of the Skulls on the first Saturday in November – Take our self-guided tour of Ofrendas, enjoy traditional music, shop food and craft vendors in the Park, and maybe even compete in the Catrina Contest.
