If you’ve never been to Murphys, the first thing you need to know is that Murphys is a small goldrush-era town that has caught the imagination and hearts of many. We have a historic Main Street filled with shops, restaurants, tasting rooms, beer pubs, and more. Each year on the third Saturday in March, we close Main Street to traffic and fill the street with artisan vendors, food trucks, entertainers, and kids! All this fun stuff means that our small town can get quite crowded, so make it easy on yourself and head out to Ironstone Vineyards to park and ride our complimentary shuttle back to town. The shuttle will run from 9:30 am to 5:30 pm and will pick up and drop you off just steps from Main Street behind the Black Sheep Tasting Room at 221 Main Street.
If you love a parade, and who doesn’t, you’ll want to get here early to snag your spot. Our hometown parade begins at 11 am at the corner of Main Street and Algiers, next to the Murphys Hotel, but the parade continues all the way to the Big Trees Road intersection, so there is plenty of room to find a good spot.
This year’s Grand Marshalls are the Ironstone Winery & Amphitheatre founders and significant contributors to the Murphys community, John & Gail Kautz. You can read more about them here. We’ll also have horses, dogs, old cars, & kids, along with bagpipers, fire trucks, and all the things you would expect to find in a small-town parade.
Visit our event pages to read more details about the event, download the entertainment schedule, and see what else is happening this weekend. Or visit CalaverasWines.org and see their tips on how best to enjoy the day.
It takes a village of volunteers and sponsors to make this event happen, so please take a moment to peruse our list of contributors, and thank the sponsors, entertainers, volunteers, and vendors working to make the day as fun as possible for you. And, if the weather proves to be as cooperative as they are forecasting, perhaps a toast to Mother Nature will be in order! Although a bit of drizzle just adds to the Irish character, the latest weather reports are predicting a dry day, keep your fingers & toes crossed for us.
Please enjoy the fantastic wines of Murphys and other drinks responsibly. There is rarely any Uber or Lyft service available, but please check out our event page for other options.
Welcome to Murphys!
