If Murphys is the Queen of the Sierra, the award-winning Victoria Inn is Her Crown Jewel.
Once you park your car at the centrally-located 13 room Victoria Inn, you find Murphys to be a truly strollable town with fine dining, historic attractions, boutique shopping, bars, bistros, bakeries, a beer garden, numerous live music options, and, arguably, one of the greatest concentrations of wine tasting rooms in California (22 at last count), all of which line the quaint, serene and inimitable half mile long Main Street. Many visitors report that after arriving in Murphys, the one and only other time they’ll get back in their car is days later when it’s time to depart for home.
Built in 1992, the Victoria Inn is designed in the “miner’s exchange” architectural style to complement the existing western “false front” and placer and field stone buildings which were all so common in the varied architectural makeup of mid to late 1800’s western towns. During the construction expansion in Murphys in the early 1990s, business owners came together to ensure the town would maintain its unique western character and appeal. One is hard pressed to differentiate the buildings of historic appearance constructed in the 1990’s from another actually constructed in the 1850’s. This leaves visitors with a sense they’re meandering a town blended from movie sets and backdrops pulled from Deadwood, Silverado, Wyatt Earp and Westworld combined with the relaxed and casual atmosphere and elegance of Sonoma and Napa of the early 1970’s.
Luxurious Bed and Breakfast accommodations reflect a rich Sierra Nevada Gold Country historic charm melded with an eclectic mix of wonderful European allure that delivers sumptuous modern amenities and conveniences such as spa and claw-foot tubs, wet bars, gas and double-sided fireplaces or wood stoves, fine bedding and linens, balconies overlooking our courtyard and exquisite onsite gourmet or bistro dining. Continental breakfast is included every morning during your stay.
For guests who are looking for ADA accessible lodging in Murphys, Mae’s Room is a wheelchair accessible room located on the ground floor of the Victoria Inn. The bathroom is outfitted with a large stall shower that includes a pull-down chair.
The Victoria Inn is also the home to the V Restaurant, Bistro and Bar, which offers delectable and sumptuous casual fare consisting of small plates and entrees to luxurious and savory fine dining prepared with the freshest ingredients by Murphys’ best chefs and paired with award winning local to internationally renowned wines and incomparable cocktails. Enjoy the refined and casual dining, either indoors or outside on the wrap-around porch or European-style bistro courtyard or belly-up and dine at one of the two fully stocked bars.
