Murphys Happenings October 31 through November 4, 2018
October 31, 2018 – Astronomy Night at the Park at 7pm – Come look at the stars on Halloween! Docents will be sharing information and telling stories as everyone gazes at the night sky. Two telescopes and astronomical binoculars will give you a closer look at the moon, planets and deep sky objects. Meet us at the Scenic Overlook in the park, just a few miles past the Visitor Center. This is one of the best night sky viewing areas in the region. Bring a chair or blanket to sit on. The Astronomy program at the park is run entirely by volunteers with support from the Calaveras Big Trees Association.

November 2, 2018 – Tai Chi at Family 4 Fitness – Family 4 Fitness is now offering a class in Tai Chi. The class will be taught by Lonny McDaniel. Lonny is board certified by Dr. Lam’s Tai Chi for Health Institute. He will teach two forms, Tai Chi for Arthritis and Fall prevention. November 3, 2018 – Murphys Dia de los Muertos – Come celebrate the Day of the Dead in the Land of the Skulls on the first Saturday in November from 11 am to 6 pm – Take our self-guided tour of Ofrendas, enjoy traditional music & dancers, shop food and craft vendors in the Park, and maybe even compete in the Catrina Contest. Stay for traditional stories, hot chocolate and pan de Muertos in the Park at 5:30 pm.
November 3, 2018 – Day of the River of Dead Skulls Dinner – Come and learn the true meaning of “Calaveras,” and to celebrate the Day of the Dead with a fabulous Winemaker Dinner! It’s happening Saturday, starting at 6:30 pm, at the Alchemy Cafe. We are having a fun multi-course plated winemaker dinner with a Mexican theme. Each course is paired with Twisted Oak wines, including some library vintages, and of course, the River of Skulls! Call 209-736-9080 for reservations.
November 3, 2018 – The Hot Dark at the Lucky Penny Public House – Keep the celebration going into the night as The Hot Dark brings the best dance music to The Lucky Penny! Since we will be celebrating Dia de los Muertos in Murphys this day, expect to see a lot of sugar skulls!! 21+, no cover. 9-midnight.

November 4, 2018 – The Calaveras Community Band invites you to its annual Fall Concert on Sunday at 3:00 p.m., at the Dr. Elliott A. Smart Performing Arts Center at Bret Harte High School in Angels Camp. This Fall Concert is free, family-friendly, first-rate, and fantastic!
