September 1, 2018 – Sierra Nevada Logging Museum Jamboree – Saturday from 9am to 5pm. This wonderful annual Labor Day Weekend jamboree has something for adults and children. The Arnold Rim Trail Association will once again have a booth at the Jamboree, as will our friends from the Calaveras District of the Forest Service. Located in White Pines. Delicious food and beer, wine and soft drinks will be available. Raffle with cool prizes. Cost to compete: Amateurs: no cost. Professional: $10. September 1-2, 2018 – The 46th Annual ‘Labor Day Weekend Arts & Crafts Festival’ will be held Sat. & Sun, September 1 & 2 – in the beautiful mountain resort town of Arnold on Highway 4. Situated among the pines and redwoods, Arnold’s popular end-of-summer celebration features over 50 booths of original crafts & art of all kinds – all exhibited by the artists. Continuous shows of live country/swing music by “Homegrown” from Modesto and juggling performances by ‘Catch it Quick’ jugglers from Chico are held in between both days. The Ebbett’s Pass Volunteer Fire Department always serves local Calaveras County beers, and a variety of home-made, hot prepared food booths, kettlekorn, pre-packaged foods of all kinds for you gourmet chefs, and baked goodies round out the deliciousness! The Ebbett’s Pass Lion’s Clubs holds their all-you-can-eat pancake breakfast of ham, eggs, & pancakes both days from 7:30 – 11:00 for only $8. The Festival runs from 10am – 5pm each day on the park-like grounds around Bristol’s Ranch House Café in downtown Arnold (Formerly held at Cedar Center). September 3, 2018 – Free Labor Day Concert – A free concert by the longest “laboring” band in the County, the Calaveras Community Band, will take place at the Murphys Community Park on Monday at 5:00 p.m. The Calaveras Community Band has been in existence since the 1880s. Bring your friends and family, young and old, “laboring” or not, to Murphys Park to enjoy the live music on this holiday. You might want to bring a picnic dinner and your swimsuit for a dip in the creek, while the Band performs patriotic pieces, Latin music, a Gershwin tune or two, a medley from Phantom of the Opera, as well as other familiar favorites. There will be something for everyone!
