Complete Streets Update at MBA Membership Meeting
The Murphys Business Association meets on the first Thursday of each month at the Murphys Historic Hotel at 8:30 am. Our June meeting will feature the election of officers for the upcoming year, a discussion on the kinds of projects we should be considering for inclusion in our budget for the coming year and a brief update on the Murphys Complete Streets study by the project’s consultants, PlaceWorks.
The Calaveras Council of Governments and Calaveras County are partnering with Caltrans on the Murphys State Route (SR) 4 Complete Streets Project, which is funded by a grant from Caltrans.
The project will evaluate the SR4 corridor through Murphys and work with the community to identify improvements that will provide safe connectivity by all modes, including walking and biking, throughout the community and to key destinations.
Based on community input and dialog, the Complete Streets Plan will plot future transportation strategies to improve multimodal corridor safety, access, aesthetics, and mobility. The final product will be a conceptual multimodal plan aimed at maximizing existing and planned operational investments along the SR4 corridor while providing safe routes to school. This plan will also facilitate future grants to construct the identified improvements.
It’s not too late to get involved and share your ideas. Another planning workshop will be scheduled for later this month so join us for this updated and plan to participate!
Anybody who is interested in the business association or any of our projects or events is welcome to attend meetings of the MBA. There is no requirement to be a member or a business owner to attend meetings or participate on our planning committees.
Breakfast is available to purchase through the Hotel at our meetings and coffee is provided free courtesy of the Murphys Historic Hotel. The MBA thanks them for their generosity and encourages everybody to tip the servers!
